Now in it’s fourth year, the player auction is a fantastic way to get everyone together before the start of the season. The bidding will again take place at The George, with proceedings kicking off at 7pm on Saturday 13th April.
The auction will conclude our Club Day, with help needed to get the grounds and pavilion ready for cricket this year.
For those new to the auction, you will be bidding to have ownership of a player in the race to score either the first century of the year or take the first five wicket haul. If your player achieves this milestone first, you will win 50% of the prize pot.
Last year saw Edward Scrivens first to ton up, scooping £713 for his successful bidder; the ‘So Obvious’ Syndicate. In the bowling, it was Owen Matthews who picked up the first five-for with the Village Cup XI, seeing his bidder, John Smith, taking the £713 prize.
The auction provides a fantastic atmosphere among the club as well as a catch up with everyone over a few drinks.
