Leeds & Broomfield Cricket Club welcomed their new President following the Annual General Meeting in January.

The former England International joins for a three-year term, as the Club enters an exciting era with Championship cricket being played at Burberry Lane for the first time and our ambitions for a new modern pavilion.

Incoming President Martin McCague said “I’m really looking forward to getting started as President of this fantastic Club. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to help shape the future of the Club over the next three years. I want to say thank you to Peter Bowden for his great work as President over the past few years. After our successful 2023 campaign with promotion to the Championship and our appearance in the National Village Cup Final at Lord’s we are on a great onward trajectory. I’m looking forward to helping the Club in any way I can”.

McCague enjoyed a stellar professional career with three test matches for England and over 450 First Class wickets for Kent. McCague continued his playing career with LBCC from 2009 and has over 200 appearances across all formats for the Club to date.

Speaking on the appointment of McCague as President, Club Chairman Chris Davis said: “I’m absolutely delighted we have Martin on board as President. He has been a fantastic servant to the Club over the past 15 years and he brings a wealth of experience both on and off the field to all of us here. Martin shares our ambition to establish ourselves as one of the top cricket clubs in Kent and I’m confident he can support us in any way he can”.

McCague’s term will run until the conclusion of the 2026 season.

Cricket returns to Burberry Lane in just over two months. Find all of our fixture information here.
